Damien Joyce is a Clifden-based businessman associated with DMJE Ventures Limited, a company with interests in hospitality and commercial property across Galway and Dublin. Community Initiatives
The ‘Win a Home in Clifden’ draw offered participants the opportunity to win a three-bedroom apartment in the heart of Clifden, Connemara, that boasts stunning views of the harbour and surrounding countryside. The apartment benefits from generously sized living spaces, secure parking, private balconies and modern amenities. The raffle was organised by the Connemara Chamber of Commerce, with the funds raised going to the development of a community hub in Clifden as well as a range of community projects. The draw took place in August 2025, with sales of €1.82 million in tickets – making it one of Ireland’s most successful community fundraisers ever.
Lowry’s Bar
Lowry’s Bar in Clifden comes under the corporate umbrella of DMJE Ventures. This traditional Irish bar is renowned for its friendly, warm atmosphere, huge selection of premium whiskeys and gins, and live traditional and folk music. The venue has won multiple awards over the years, including Best Traditional Bar in Ireland in 2015 and 2019 at the Irish Pub of the Year Awards, Best Traditional Bar in Connacht 2025 and Best Music Bar in Connacht 2025 at the Irish Bar and Cocktail Awards, Best Pub in Connacht 2022 and Best Pub in Galway 2025 at the Irish Restaurant Awards, and Best Tourist Bar in Connacht in 2017, 2018, 2019, 2022, 2023 and 2024 at the Irish Pub Awards.
Philanthropy
Through his business, Damien Joyce, Lowry’s Bar owner, is an active supporter of the charity Cancer Care West. This organisation offers services and support to anyone affected by cancer throughout Donegal, Leitrim, Sligo, Galway, Mayo, Clare and Roscommon. Cancer Care West’s community-based and professional services are available free of charge and include Donegal Cancer Support Centre, Galway Cancer Support Centre, a transport service and accommodation for those undergoing radiotherapy treatment.
Connemara Chamber of Commerce
Mr Joyce is a director of the Connemara Chamber of Commerce, a voluntary organisation in County Galway that aims to assist businesses in the region and help promote the area’s economic development. The organisation currently has over 200 members and has been in existence for more than 30 years. Previous projects it has been involved in include the Clifden Town Square redevelopment, the Ball Alley project and the Wild Atlantic Way Derrigimlagh Discovery Point development.
